The publication of a scientific article based on an experiment conducted on the combustion of a methane-hydrogen mixture in a condensing boiler.
Last year, an experiment was conducted on the combustion of a methane-hydrogen mixture in a condensing boiler in collaboration with the National Research University of MPEI.
The chief technologist at ANO «Hydrogen Technological Solutions» based on this experiment wrote a paper that analyzed literature sources on climate change due to greenhouse gases.
To conduct the experimental studies, a pilot plant was built for burning a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas with varying proportions of components on the basis of the BERETTA CIAO GREEN 25 CSI condensing boiler. The results obtained were the composition of exhaust gases (oxygen, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide), specific electrical conductivity, and pH level of condensate.
It was found that
- the co-combustion of the hydrogen mixture reduces the emission of nitrogen oxide and carbon into the atmosphere;
- when using only natural gas as a fuel, the resulting condensate has acidic properties. However, when a mixture of hydrogen and natural gas is burned, the equilibrium shifts towards a more neutral environment;
- the use of this mixture significantly increases the consumption of condensate compared to using only natural gas.
